Research: Horrible Histories

As random as it seems, I am a fan of CBBC's Horrible Histories!!!

Although it is aimed at a younger audience, the characters portrayed by the actors are of historical significance yet they are portrayed in a humorous way that appeals to the younger generation. Despite not being a comical sketch show as such, it still contains elements of humour whilst maintaining its educational purposes of informing children about historical characters and events. The humour is presented in the form of exaggerated character representation with a contemporary twist to such historical giants like King Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth.

Songs are a common feature amongst the programme as lyrics from contemporary and famous songs are changed and adapted to reveal historical information such as events and dates:

Songs are an inventive way of achieving humour if the lyrics of a well known song can be adapted.
