Research: The Impression Show

Debra Stephenson and Jon Culshaw are the duo behind 'The Impression Show' that contains nothing but sketches of celebrities impersonated by the duo. Common faces such as Jonathan Ross, Ross Kemp, Lord Alan Sugar, Ray Mears, Davina McCall, Anne Robinson, Fiona Bruce, Wayne and Coleen Rooney and many more are seen in ridiculous scenarios whilst being impersonated by Culshaw and Stephenson.

If they can be mastered to a respectable standard, impressions can be funny, so long as the audience are aware of who you are trying to impersonate. For this reason, well known celebrities are usually at the receiving end of impression artists. I attempted to impersonate Nigella lawson in the opening sketch to my show by over-exaggerating the sexual nature of her coking programmes. Impressions can also be funny however, if they are executed incredibly poorly, such as Aaron Lampard's Australian accent during the Fosters Advert sketches!
